COOMERA CONNECTOR (SOUTH) | PRELIMINARY AND DETAILED DESIGN

CLIENT | Department of Transport and Main Roads 

Grounded Consulting led community and stakeholder engagement for the Coomera Connector (Stage 1 South) project during the preliminary and detailed design phase.

​

With a project value of $2.16 billion, the Coomera Connector is currently South East Queensland’s largest road infrastructure project.

​

Grounded Consulting prepared a comprehensive communication and engagement strategy for the project and developed key communication collateral (including a project newsletter and artist impressions).

​

The team also undertook community engagement activities  including stakeholder meetings with affected businesses and residents and the management of the project 1800 number and project email.

SANDON POINT SENIORS LIVING DEVELOPMENT | PLANNING

CLIENT | Anglicare

Grounded Consulting was responsible for the rollout of community and stakeholder engagement for the State Significant Development phase and Environmental Impact Assessment.

​

The team managed all aspects of communication and engagement, including briefings with directly affected neighbours adjoining the proposed development.

 

Grounded Consulting led community information sessions as well as key stakeholder briefings with key Government Agencies and Indigenous groups. The team also managed media for the project.

The team prepared an array of collateral including fact sheets, presentations, e-news and project updates.

NATURAL DISASTER PROGRAM | RECONSTRUCTION

CLIENT | Department of Transport and Main Roads 

Grounded Consulting has worked extensively on many projects across TMR’s South Coast Region Natural Disaster program. Namely, Tamborine Mountain Road (the Goat Track), 2021 Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements reconstruction works, Southern Queensland 2022 flood reconstruction works and Cunningham Highway (Ipswich – Warwick), 2020 Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements reconstruction works.

 

The projects have focused on restoring access for communities and businesses, restoring damaged roads and road surfaces and repairing damaged slopes, batters and culverts along roads.

 

Grounded Consulting has built strong relationships with impacted stakeholders and was a dedicated and consistent point of contact throughout the project life. This engagement method allowed for transparent communication about the projects, kept the community and stakeholders informed and identified opportunities for mutually beneficial outcomes that met the needs of stakeholders and achieved project delivery.

 

Over the life of the projects, Grounded Consulting developed community engagement strategies, managed briefings and community sessions, developed key project collateral, and led on-the-ground communication tasks and media events.

COFFS HARBOUR BYPASS UTILITY RELOCATION WORKS — CONSTRUCTION

CLIENT | Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW)

Grounded Consulting provided communication, consultation

and engagement services during the construction phase of

northern utilities relocation work package for the Coffs Harbour Bypass Project.

​

The project involved the relocation and protection of existing

telecommunications, electrical utility, water and sewer services, in preparation for major construction of the Bypass.

​

Grounded Consulting played a key role in managing relationships between the project, client and external stakeholders. The team implemented plans during construction and provided strong, effective communication when working closely with affected communities and stakeholders.

​

Key responsibilities included the implementation of a communication and engagement strategy to prepare businesses and the community during early works construction, issues management, production and delivery of key communication collateral, including project updates.

​

The team held community briefings and meetings with key

residential and commercial stakeholders, managed responses

from the project’s complaint and enquiries line and maintained an extensive consultation database. The team also produced regular consultation reports for the client.

INVESTMENT OUTLOOK STUDY | RESEARCH

CLIENT | City of Gold Coast

COVID-19 presented a unique opportunity for hotels and accommodation providers to consider bringing forward reinvestment plans, without displacing occupancy and revenue during usual operations.

 

Based on this opportunity, in 2020, the City of Gold Coast commissioned an investment outlook study to understand how much reinvestment was being planned and in what timeframes. In 2022, Grounded Consulting was commissioned to undertake further market research and prepare a follow-up report to understand any changes to investment intent and current investment priorities across this sector.

 

Grounded Consulting undertook market research and analysis for the City. A survey was prepared and issued to accommodation providers to understand how the sector is faring post-COVID-19 pandemic. The research further informed the City’s investment attraction action plan, including a review of existing programs. A comprehensive report outlining the findings was developed for the project.

COOMERA PARK 'N' RIDE AND GREENBANK PARK 'N' RIDE | CONSTRUCTION

CLIENT | Department of Transport and Main Roads

Grounded Consulting led community engagement during the construction phase of the Park 'n' Ride project at Coomera Train Station. The team prepared project updates and traffic alerts, prepared media releases and undertook event planning. This project resulted in the delivery of 500 new parking spaces, supporting commuter growth in the Coomera region.

 

Grounded Consulting also led the liaison with the community for the Greenbank Park 'n' Ride. This project involved the construction of 600 new parking spaces.

 

The team played a key role in facilitating the effective delivery of the stakeholder and engagement program, implementing plans during construction and providing strong, effective communication when working closely with affected communities and stakeholders.

 

Key responsibilities included issues and crisis management, media relations and production and delivery of key communication collateral including community updates, presentations, project updates, website copy and FAQ’s.

Grounded Consulting held community briefings and meetings with key residential and commercial stakeholders, prepared social media alerts, managed responses from the project’s complaint and enquiries line, maintained an extensive consultation database and prepared a comprehensive report on the outcomes of the engagement period.

OUR NATURAL CITY STRATEGY |
STRATEGY REVIEW ENGAGEMENT

CLIENT | City of Gold Coast

The City of the Gold Coast undertook a review of the previously endorsed 'Our Natural City Strategy' (ONC). The strategy was developed in 2017 with a vision to achieve a prosperous and resilient natural city, seeking to achieve balance by focusing efforts on securing the resilience of the intended natural asset network whilst supporting growth primarily in the city's urban areas.

​

In conjunction with NGH Consulting, Grounded Consulting worked with the City to implement a Stakeholder Engagement plan to shape the ONC review.

​

The team developed the engagement plan and market research approach, conducting targeted interviews and facilitating focus groups. The Grounded Consulting team developed a comprehensive report that outlined the engagement outcomes and provided strategic insight into the next phase of the strategy.

KURRAWA BEACH CLUB TRIAL | COMMUNITY AND BUSINESS SENTIMENT RESEARCH

CLIENT | City of Gold Coast

The City of Gold appointed Grounded Consulting to engage with the community and businesses for the Beach Club trial held at Kurrawa on the Gold Coast.

​

Grounded Consulting undertook face-to-face engagement, prepared relevant collateral, distributed it to the community, and managed two surveys to better understand community and business sentiment relating to the trial.

​

Grounded prepared a comprehensive engagement report, capturing all feedback received and a detailed analysis of key themes resonating from the surveys.

M1 UPGRADES (VARIOUS)

CLIENT | Department of Transport and Main Roads

Varsity Lakes to Tugun Upgrade | Design Phase

​

Grounded Consulting developed and implemented communication and engagement programs for various M1 Upgrades, most recently the Varsity Lakes to Burleigh upgrade.

 

The project scope included developing communication collateral, managing the 1800 number, coordinating community displays and developing media releases, website, and social media content.

Chemical Plant

 GLADSTONE ENERGY AND AMMONIA PROJECT

CLIENT | Australian Future Energy

Grounded Consulting was responsible for managing stakeholder engagement as part of an Environmental Impact Assessment for a proposed energy and ammonia project.

​

A strategic plan was developed and implemented for this significant project to convert coal into ammonia and synthetic natural gas at a plant to be constructed in Gladstone Queensland.

With the objective to consult and inform key stakeholders about the upgrade through the Business Case Phase while managing community expectations at this stage of the project lifecycle.

 

Grounded Consulting led community and stakeholder engagement. The team developed and implemented a communication and engagement program, including targeted and community engagement, to ensure an understanding of the project impacts, phases and timing.

GOLD COAST LIGHT RAIL, STAGE 3 | BUSINESS CASE, DESIGN AND CONTRACT AWARD

CLIENT | Department of Transport and

Grounded Consulting led communication and engagement for the Gold Coast Light Rail Business Case phase and continued to play a key role in the State project team during the procurement phase of the Gold Coast Light Rail project.

 

A high level of internal and external communication services was provided for the project on community engagement, public affairs, correspondence and stakeholder relationship management.

 

Key responsibilities included the development and implementation of the communication and engagement strategy to prepare businesses and the community in the lead-up to major construction.

 

Media and government relations counsel was also provided to the project team and the Department’s reputation was managed through issues and media management.
